American Mensa | Games

My Plum crumble

A beautiful fall bouquet of flowers ( along with yummy chocolate fudge)that Sonia and Louise and Mike left me after their stay here last week-end while we were in Princeton golfing. Thank-you, thank-you...I love to have my daughter/s home..even if I can't be there! And a big thanks for changing all the beds before you left!

Last night, Sandra and Leo came dinner and overnight, but not before we had a challenging card game of "Golf"...the men won, but only at the last moment! Thank-you two for swinging by...you left your thermos behind, Sandra!

If you are up to it, check out this page for links to many "Mental" games..
Have fun!
Sorry, no energy to blog tonight...my back has been sore since golf , and sitting makes it worse...I have pitted and chopped a whole bunch of plums tonight and bagged them up for the freezer...The last few remaining ones, I made a little crumble topping for them and put them in the oven...just enjoying a bowl-full now...very yummy...not too sweet...then it is off to bed...
American Mensa Games

If you are out around Joyce and Morgan's, beware the big B'ar...He made off with a huge sack of feed and an undisclosed amount of apples......
Thanks goodness, he left a few for pies:-)

Stan Ali Cup!

Friday night,we ate at a new pub in Princeton...called Station Pub, I think... just at the main intersection there... excellent food...yum yum!

Diane, Ali, Stan and Ashley. This was Friday night at the motel, as people arrived.

Ronda and John getting all ready to golf...or something! The lovely thing was that we had an anonymous donor pay for all the golf carts... pretty nice aye? We think it might of been Stan.

Our good friends, and always full of fun... Woody and Diane...

After the tournament,w e returned to the motel to sit around the non-campfire and play some music and sing and eat some more and drink some more

Held In Princeton, this was a tricky little course. Leo, on the left, and Ashley, on the right were my golf partners. I have to say that Ashley was a fine golfer that day, but I had a couple of winning shots myself!Leo came through like a charm too, so we all had fun...and came in third. It was that damn hole that we had to draw M&M's on...

After the game, the prizes were handed out amidst a lot of laughs, before, during and after... Now what was so funny here? We had a lunch and a little liquid refreshment...

Now this is where things started in the afternoon...Deb, topping off the Caesar with a little extra spirits...

The winners were tied, so they had to have a putt-off...best two out of three... Gerry, who was putting int eh pic...never won...boo-hoo.. Charlotte's team won!
Well, I have to close tonight as I am pooped and tired and all...despite sleeping for about 12 hours last night... oh my...
The sad thing is that my Sonia was here at the house for the whole week-end on a training sint for PEP and we essentially saw her Thursday night for a bit and in the morning on Friday... and then her and her workmates were on their way to the airportin Castlegar, while we were driving to Nelson... Thank-you Sonia for the beautiful bouquet of flowers and the dinner in the fridge...Awesome daughter!
So...tomorrow night I'll put up some of the photos that Ronda took on my camera after I went to bed! To keep it decent,we won't post the moon pics....but they were funny!

Lynn and Rick's Farewell party

Lynn,looking festive

Rick,just arriving

guests of honour

What would be a party without a little whipped cream fun?
Anne is always up to tricks at a party, and this one was no different. When the deserts came out, Anne brought ont he whipped cream! We all had plenty of laughs!
Yeppers, Lynn and Rick sold their little farmhouse and chicken coop and now they are jumping in a motorhome and heading south for the winter..After that, who knows? Hard to believe that Lynn would pack up and leave all of her beautiful gardens that she has slaved over all these years, but maybe they know something we don't know.
The party was a great gathering of all the neighbours, old and new...and no-0one started a fight, even tho there were a few heated debates about who owns the beach:-)
The newest neighbour to move into the area is actually one of the oldest owners of property out here. Doug has had the property for 20 years and only recently did he move a modular home onto it and move in with his new partner, Cheryl. It was nice to meet them face to face, instead of only seeing them kayak past our beach. Vickie, also relatively new to the area and also in a modular on her son's property(down the road from us), came to the party and she likes to liven up the group by breaking out into song...She knows the chorus of a hundred different tunes...too funny!
I'll continue to put up more pics when time permits... have a sunny day! Did you notice the white capped mountain peaks this morning...yechy!

Sunday in the Bay

the "doc" Janice, getting funny for the photo!

check the moon ...it was rising on our bonfire for a perfect evening!

Ann and Dick and Cheryl, talking over the political events of the world!..under te Harvest moon!

Silky, Spacedog,waiting for a handout!

Deb ,Anne and Dick's brother ,Tony..getting comfy for the weiner roast

My old garden sans fence

My new garden with fence and a NEW GATE!!!

Friends and neighbours gathered for a soiree around the bonfire before night fell..

What a beautiful sunny week-end! This is what we live for all year round...an awesome September!
Emil worked diligently to build me two gates for my newly fenced lower garden, and I worked like a beaver to get the weeds out and to haul dirt in, so that I could begin to move plants from my old upper garden, to my new fenced garden. I have to say it is a labour of love that will entail a lot of grunt work yet. I did move two roses, and a honeysuckle and iris and a few other plants, but I still have some huge oldies to conquer, before I am even close to being done. This is the time to move them,so it has to be accomplished soon. Emil then wants to remove about six evergreens which we hope to be able to save, as the neighbours around us have already staked claim to most of them.Let me know if anyone wants a tree... We don't haul them!
We were wrapping up the gardening on Sunday, when Sheryl popped in for a surprise visit on her way back from Kaslo. We hadn't seen her for most of the summer, so that swas good she stopped. She is the rep that took over Emil's position at HEU.
We had invited Anne and Dick and Dick's brother, Tony, over for a weiner roast. Thus it became a perfect party after they arrived. Sheryl decided to stay for the weiner roast,so we hauled the food down to the beach and Emil lit the fire up.Deb and Ashley soon joined us and before long we were laughing and having a beer and roasting our smokies, when along came Janice M., the Doc, our friend from Balfour. She brought more food and so, the party grew!

The surprising thing is how fast the sun went down and how cool it quickly became. We loved the fact that it was a full harvest moon out, and it graced us by slipping out over top the nmountain and beaming down to light up the entire beach once it got higher in the sky.
Emil hauled out more logs for the fire and we all hovered closer to the heat. By ten, tho, everyone was full and freezing and ready to call it a night,so we said goodbyes and that was the end of a perfect Sunday!
Hope yours was just as fine,or even better!

CKIPC - Local Weeds to Watch For

CKIPC - Local Weeds to Watch For

"The Creator"
Here is a comprehensive list of Invasive plants of our area... the best thing is to cut them down and bag them to prevent spread of the seeds... The sad thing is that the lot next to has has most of these species growing right there...and the thistle is the worst...growing in groves that are huge... way beyond bagging! I cut down what I thought was a huge amount, in the spring, but now when I look across to the neighbours yard on the other side of the empty lot, I see a field of fluff.
I hope to read up a little more on these invasive species and get rid of them around my yard for starters! My garden has had its share of thistles for sure!
The local group called Central Kootenay Invasive Plant committee is putting up signs indicating invasive plants. You may have seen them along the highways. I guess we all have to do our part.

Road Kings Car show today

Look at some of these beauties lining Baker Street all day today. People came from all over with their beautiful cars to show them off! Tonight there is a huge dance on the top of the parkade with the "Hot Rods" playing, from Thunder Bay Ontario! Should be a blast, but I'll be home in my snuglie bed.
