Around the bonfire tonight

All the neighbours were out and about on this fine sunny day, so we called up a bonfire and had everyone over.

Andy, to the left and his wife, Kathleen ( in the red coat) were up from the Okanagan t open up their trailer for the summer. We hadn't seen them since last fall and Andy was full of the devil as usual, keeping us all laughing.

Here's Alissa and Mike...to the right , our newest neighbours on the block. They bought Jim's old house and are redoing the kitchen. I keep saying I'll pop over to see it...maybe tomorrow...
Ashley (in the blue coat on the left) and Deb, down below, joined us for some wings and natchos before the fire event. It was good to sit around and catch up with everyone, and be outside. I saw a lovely bright satellite or space ship or something, glow very bright in the sky to the north west...it got very bright then faded out of site...At first I thought it might be the International Space Station, but it never hung around for more than ten seconds... those damn Aliens!

I did some cleaning and playing with my fabric steamer, then put in a million phone numbers to my pearl...
Mike and Alissa came over to take out a few of the wee trees in the garden, then I headed down to continue trying to liberate my raspberry bushes from grass and weeds. I am hoping that Emil can get my lower fence put up very soon, before the deer take over the garden. I tore out the old chicken wire fence last week-end, so it is wide open to the critters.
Have a great Sunday. I'll be sending out another email regarding accomodations, since viewing the rooms at the BBI. If you are apt to be slightly enebriated and just require a bed, then it will suffice. If you require fancier digs, then I found a couple of alternatives to post modern fishing lodge.

Baby Blackberry Pink Pearl

This is my new toy that has kept me amused all week...

It is a not only a cell phone, but much more...it shows me my email and facebook emails also...so much fun...
I am still trying to figure it all out, but so far so good. Now I just need to enter everyone's phone numbers. The good thing is that one can do that in your contact list in Outlook express and it can all be transferred from the computer. How is that? Snappy doodle. Now I have to do it. The way the clouds are heading in, that might be what will amuse me today.

Our neighbour, Deb, returned yesterday from her whirlwind trip through Europe...a month. She said Florence and Vienna were beautiful and should you go to Bruge in Belgium, then you ought to make a hotel reservation first, since their hotels are booked four months in advance! They found themselves outside a closed up train station at eleven o'clock at night with no hotel in site... Lights were out in the hotels they found and it was quite sometime before they found a hotel that had room. All the while, they were walking with backpacks on dark streets...too scary for me!
She told us all of her tales over a fish and chip dinner up at JB's... great fish and chips, but a long way to go. I am happy that Deb was driving!
Ok...time to have another coffee and go attack the laundry. I watered my dried out plants upstairs and discovered that one ...only one...lemon seed sprout popped up out of the ground after a month of incubation... This is my lemon tree! Maybe... it is only one inch tall...and barely what you would call a leaf. This is from Janice's fabulous homegrown lemon that she brought over.

h yes, my other toy is my Rowenta fabric steamer that I ordered from Save-on Foods... I love it... takes out the wrinkles in a jiff, especially t-shirts and my blouses. I haven't mastered pants just 100% yet, but I will try again today,as I have a mountain of laundry... Also lost my nice Vegas blue nighty, if anyone has discovered it in their laundry, let me know:-)
I mayhap left it at Ronda and Johns , tho that was some time ago.
I haven't really slept anywhere else.
Maybe the dog took it...or the cat.
I miss my nighty.
So back to the steamer... I ordered a little rack from Sears. I can hang 50 pounds of clothes on it. I will put that together this morning and keep hanging clothes, then start my steaming.

Sunny Saturday!

Ethan with the new bubble blaster..

Joyce and Derrick

Unfortunately one bubble maker didn't work, so Ethan and Jamie had to share

Running is Ethan's full time preoccupation...down to the sand at the beach and back in one minute and forty seconds!

It turned out so beautiful yesterday...thank-you Lord for the sunshine..finally! Barb and Joyce and the kids came out after they had a swim at the pool. The kids were so pooped , we just brought them into the house and put them down to sleep in the bed. They were konked out for the next two hours almost! It gave us time to have a chat and a beer and finish getting dinner ready. Derrick is down to do the mudding on Joyce and Morgan's living -room, now that Emil and Morgan got the dry-wall all up. Joyce will be happy to have her living -room back again, especially in a new lighter bright colour. Wouldn't you know that the latest Metropolitan Home magazine features a big come-back for chocolate and orange! Anyone that knows Joyce's old living -room will know that the walls were chocolate pannelling and the chesterfield, a lovely salmon.....
She is onto something brighter these days.
Lynn, on the other hand has removed the rug from her living room and put in a new darker laminate floor... it looks great for a change in her house...Nicely done too.

Lookin' good..Lynn
