How has the weather been up your way???

This little big blow -down happened last week... on the neighbour, Chris's property, after a big windstorm swept through here. No damage done at our house!
This tree slightly squished one of his many trailers that he is stockpiling on his property ( right in front of Anne's house!)

I snapped these pics as I waited for the ferry on Friday , after work. Outside, the thunder was booming, and Kokanee was a swirl of white-out. What most interested me, was the noctilucent type of clouds, pointing their fingers down to the fishes in the water! The storm wasn't complete without the rainbow in the mifddle of it all! Unfortuneately, it doesn't show up in these pics.

A beautiful Day for golfing Balfour

The water lilies were in bloom in the pond...very amazing and a brighter pink than the photo depicts.

Emil wondering where his ball went to...

Moi, Ashley and Deb..on the last hole

Ashley with fine form on 18....Face it, he had fine form on every hole!
What a day, what a day! The sun popped up into a clear blue sky and it stayed that way for most of the day! We golfed Balfour ( or should I say, that the other three golfed and I whacked and spanked the ball!) with Deb and Ashley for a fine day of being out on the course. It looked like I had forgotten anything that I knew about golfever, and went on to make everyone laugh as my ball went from one mud hole to the next! The course was a bit of a bog around every sprinkler area and I seemed to find every mudhole! Five feet away from me and I couldn't find my ball...Good thing that Ashley is a persistant finder...even came up with a new softy pink ball, out of one of the ponds. We walked the first nine, then carted the back nine...up all the hills. Good thing, because by then, the heat had soared to what felt like 35 *.
After the game, we returned to Deb and Ashley's and all hit the beach . Deb and I did get into the cold cold lake for a refreshing dip. Once you were in, it was fine! Deb cooked us a big dinner and so, the day went on and on, till we could neither eat or drink no more!
Emil is in bed and I am not too far behind. My skin feels a little roasted after many sun hours,,despite being slathered in 40 Uv blocker!

PSS
A message on my machine was for a call back to cousin Dale. He informed me that Lynn's dad, Bill Pierce, passed away after a long struggle with cancer. Our condolences to Lynn and Dale and Jennnifer and to Lynn's mom, who looked after her husband for many years. He was 84 years old. Lynn had been on the island, helping her mom for many week-ends now, as her dad got progressively worse. I am sure she will miss him dearly. Thanks for letting us know.

Splendid Sunday

Thats Anne with the can of whipped cream!

Anne and Dick enjoying some of the left over cheesecake from the party...still a few pieces left if there are any takers out there! Their grandson Nigel, came over with them and had fun with the Top Toss game . In fact, everyone did... It was a pleasant afternoon and an early evening.
Now it is time for my bed... morning comes early and so does work. If today is any indicator, it will be a scorcher in the shop tomorrow as well!

Thank goodness I have two days off together!I cleaned up the house and changed the sheets and did laundry on Saturday and then Sunday, I finished cleaning and did a run through with the vacuum...too much to do in one day when I have a multitude of general merchandise to return to its proper location. It seems to be an accumulation of the week's events! Everything is back to normal now... finally put the sheets on the white bed in the green room (tho it isn't green anymore)

I made it outside for a few brief moments...planted my tree from Lynn B. and translplanted at least four mini lemon trees that I have started from Janice's fantastic lemon. I hope at least one survives! The lemons were as large as oranges, and the whole tree wasn't more than three feet tall , and grew in the house... How perfect is that?
Okey dokey ..have a good week... I'll check in every now and then...Love ya all...

Sunny Saturday

The sun was too much for Silky...so she was squinting for most of the day!

Our fire pit is still filled with water so Ashley brought his burner over and we lit a fire in there... The burner works awesome and even threw off a lot of heat later int he evening when it cooled down. We roasted smokies followed by schmores and filled ourselves up until we were nearly all napping!

Emil was having fun!

And once the ducks learned of the free treats and hot-dog buns , they also attended the picnic on the beach

A few doors down, at Chris's house, just in front of Ann and Dicks, the wind blew over this massive tree, squishing the little trailer that lie underneath it. Chris will have a job delimbing and burning all the limbs... That was the storm that ripped through hear on Thursday!

We had a surprise visit from Leo and Sandra (not in the photo)and Laverne(centre) on Saturday in their very cool pontoon Party boat... made to relax in and to drink in ,and to have lots of fun in... can seat about 7 or 8 people comfortably. We sat on the boat and had a few refreshments and proceeded to get seriously sun burned on my legs....no problemo...as long as I don't plan on wearing shorts for the next month!

Later, Ashley and Deb came over to enjoy the day on the beach... It was so beautiful and HOT! We never got so cooked that we needed a swim...but I came very close! Note the tents in the background at Tom's place. His grandson got married there today. Leo noted that they had "Real " tents!
An immature bald eagle kept circling around in a chase after a seagull that had caught a baby fissh and deposited it on the beach to die... I think the seagull ate the fish before the eagle came in for dinner!

Now you can see that they set up round tables with fine white linens...it all looked very beautful. Emil watched a bit of the wedding today from Deb and Ashley's balcony and noted that the flower girl ran away back to the house and the bride had to carry the ring-bearer down to the beach... He said it was all pretty funny!
Oh yes, note the wheelbarrow??? The son of the dipstick next door actually saw Emil cleaning up the beach, and the son rounded up who he couls and they all raked and picked up sticks and made their beach look decent for a change.. I am glad one of them has common sense!
