Another old Tamlin Family Photo

This is my mom with all of her family, after her older brother, John had married Tina. The one missing from this photo is Irene, who may also have been married at this time. She married Fred Soukerookoff and had baby Fred. Unfortunately she died after giving birth. Fred returned from the United States and then took Helen as his wife. They went on to have a daughter and other sons including Alex, Mike and Sid.

back row..Left to right...
Uncle "Tall John", his wife ( short) Tina, Helen, Alex
Front row left to right
Looks like Pauline, then her father, Micket, and his first wife Nastia (nee Cheveldave), then Mary, holding the flowers. I could have Mary and PAuline, ( my mom) mixed up, but I don't think so... Mom was older, but Mary was taller. I expect the taller part didn't happen till she turned thirteen or so.

Merry Christmas

And it started to snow ...

Then the big white-out moved in

The neighbours yard looked like a Christmas card scene
Indeed ,it was a good day for cleaning up and doing laundry. I purged the closet of a laundry basket of clothing that can go straight to the Woman's shelter... or somewhere, along with several other collections of ancient unwearables...I have five bags of "Stuff" to unload. Not all mine, and a lot of it is good for someone, but not for me!
By the time I did my vacuuming and purging and kitchen restoration, it was well after 3:00,and I was pooped out. I've been snuffling with this new cold and although, I never felt bad all day, my mouth has been extremely dry... I probably drank a gallon of water today...including one Perrier I found in the downstairs fridge..I had forgotten how refreshing those were..agua con gas... like a club soda , I suppose, but somehow tastier.
Emil spent another day helping Morgan with the drywall for the living-room and they successfully completed the whole room. Emil was a little stiff last night, but said he felt pretty good tonight...heded for his beddy after dinner. Last night he headed for the hot-tub!
Auntie Mary called tonight to see how we all were...what a sweetie. Everyone is worried about her and Uncle. She had the shot in her eye for the macular degeneration, up in Kamloops. It can stave off the blindness, if she can keep up the shots. She is already blind in one eye. I hope that isn't heriditary! My mom had cataracts when she was around 61 years old... and AUntie Mary has had eye problems for many years.
Uncle received more blood over the past few days, and is doing so-so. I guess the next days will tell how he is really doing. Auntie is so sad when she talks about him. How does one deal with the thought of losing a partner that you have been with for 70 years! One great thing is that both Auntie and Uncle, are as sharp as a tack. Nice to grow older and keep your wits about you.

Where am I now?
What was I talking about????
I am considering some of these Brain games to keep my mind sharper..
Okay, I tried a few to see how I was doing...you try it...just try reciting the months of the year in alphabetical order. and then in reverse alphabetical order...not me!

Time to play a little Packrat on Facebook. It is totally addictive and like anything else, there are web pages to show you what to collect an how to "Make things"...If you want o shoot away an hour easy, then start your own Packrat game in Facebook... It is compelling!

Oh yes, I nearly forgot to tell everyone that Thursday night was the perfect night for vieing the Jules Verne robotic spaceship, the International space station and the Genesis 1. ...all passing right over Nelson just before 9:00 pm. Emil and I stood outside and watched and watched, and then, like lightening the Jules Verne emerged from behind the southern mountains, followed by the enormously bright International Space Station! It was bigger and brighter that anything in the night sky and moved just over the tops of the mountains, until it faded from site...all in about a minute and a half. These two will come close together tonight, however the weather isn't very co-operative for viewing. You can go to Spaceweather and pop in your city or town and determing whe it will fly over your head... Good Luck and let me know if you see anything!

Nosica Nosica

Mataya and Emil square off

Joe and Correna go at it...simultaneously, in Edmonton

Mataya's Lost egg

Mataya and Matthew in the heavy competition

The big black X indicates the "BrokenOnes"...mostly done in by Ronda with her slipsies
The game is simple...Boil your eggs, colour them, then pick a partner and go at it nose to nose!...( with the eggs that is).... Elbow on the table. Two eggs each...round robin style of play. Last person who has an unbroken egg is the grand winner...and certainly must share the covetted egg full of chocolates with everyone...This year it was from Chocofeller, in Nelson! Yum! Thanks MAtaya for sharing!

Oh My

Noah and Ronda...she can make him smile and laugh out loud!

Mathew with his big egg that got smashed before the game began.

At least four got broken before we ever started playing!

John and Emil with their dad. He joined us for dinner, but was suffering from quite a cold...hey...maybe that is where I caught it from!

John tries a magical pool trick... it almost worked...

The week is zipping by and I have come down with a sinus thing...leading to a sore throat...not good. Also, we have been watching American Idol these pst nights...Excellent singers this year. From the show, I discovered I could download a full length broadcast of their songs from ITunes, american Idol... Just listening to this Billy Jean version by David Cooke. It was an outstanding performance. He made it to the top 10 and now the top 9. I will root for him for now.

Sorry I haven't a ton of photos of our trip. I am overinundated with emails re Emil's Retireday party... and have been replying to many.I will try to get decent hotel rooms secured by the end of the week, tho I wished everyone could stay right here. I'll be in touch with those who never responded.

No ,this is David Arshaleto singing Imagine... very good! Gives me shivers up my spine.

So our little trip to NAksup was good. We got to spend a little more time with Uncle . He looked better than last time, but I understand he is not getting any better as of today... Auntie had to go to Kamloops to get that injection in her eye in order to save what little site is left. She is getting more blind by the minute. We did also get to visit with my cousin Ed and also his sister Mildred and hubby Phil. They cooked us up lunch before we left for the ferry...Nice to chat with everyone again and Thank-you for the yummy grilled cheese sanny's. Mildred put slices of raw onion in them...nice crunch and tasty too.

The trip through the Monashee pass was pretty good...snowy in parts, but just enough to make you slow down and take it easy.

We arrived late in the sunny afternoon at John and Ronda's. We were in plenty of time to have a drink out on the sunny deck... That felt good! Not a stitch of snow anywhere within eyesite at their place. Made us feel like we were in a tropical country.... well, almost!

Ronda and I took a jaunt down to Kelowna where I did some speed shopping... don't worry, I managed to spend a bunch and still have enough to buy groceries at Costco. Trickier, now that we are on a once a month pension!

Ronda cooked a lovely big turkey and all the trimmings for Saturday night. My eyes were bigger than my stomach...it had been ages since I had mashed spuds with gravy!

Over the course of the week-end we played the card game "Golf", then our ever famous Nosica Nosica, and then shot some pool...mostly John and Emil, but I got a few lessons too. Then we indulged ourselves by floating around in the hot-tub! Sunday morning after Nosica Nosica, in which MAtaya was the grand winner( she smacked my ol egg all to heck! ), we then watched MAtthew paly a few tunes on his Guitar Hero Guitar... now that was a cool machine... taking way more hand eye co-ordination than I will EVER have!

So here is a few photos, before I fall off my perch with this stuffy head.

Virginia called when we were in Grand-forks ( I drove all the way from Vernon to there) and told us that ham dinner was cooking... Yum... we had to fight a few snowflakes and crappy roads over the Paulson, but made it Joyce and Morgans in good time. My goodness, they had a fresh two or three inches of the white stuff...us too out here, once we returned home.

So before the photos, thank-you to John and Ronda and Mathew and MAtaya and little Noah, for a great Easter week-end away...and thank-you to Joyce and Morgan and Virginia and Corey for the lovely Easter Ham dinner. We had a blast with Kendra... no bees in that kid's bonnet. She is so smart and cute... and no sitting still for five seconds... Sure was good to see them all before they headed back on Monday.

Okey dokey...nighty night...I'll load up mopre pics in the days to come. Thanks for your patience. If I continue to play PAckrat on Facebook, I may never resurface! No time tonight. Probably all of my best Icon things are stolen...
