Happy Early Birthday to Meeee!

On Sunday, Joyce came out and together, with Lynn, they threw me a fancy early surprise birthday party for my big ( hate to say it) 6-0 coming up this weekend. Joyce was busy icing the delicious chocolate cake that she made, with dream whip and chocolate pudding and when I wasn't peeking , the black balloons went up everywhere! Lynn got the other goodies ready and before I knew it they were singing Happy Birthday to me!
We all toasted to the occasion and enjoyed the cake after I tried to blow out the three candles. Thank-goodness there weren't 60 of them. Thank-you Lynn and Joyce for making my birthday a special one!

To the three Divas!

Lynn thought I needed to go back in time with some old fashioned candy and popcorn... cracker jacks, Nutty club, Jawbreakers and yummy Chicken bones with the funniest being the old Cowboy Bubblegum cigarettes. The Nutty club popcorn ( like Lucky elephant pink popcorn) had the best prize...a nice set of Vampire fangs! The crackerjacks tasted pretty darn good and the chicken bones were the best! Thanks Lynn for that walk down memory lane...and remember those wafer rainbow candies...they used to be about 5 cents a roll.. but I bet not now!

More toasts

Mattie and Abbi join in the festivities

My beautiful gift... amongst many other treats, "Set in Stone" by Eileen Pederson. It is about all the rock walls and the builders of them, in Trail , over the years. I can honestly say that my hand ran over many of those stones, especially on the Look out Street wall over the years . There were many walls that even as a kid, drew our attention as to their detail, size and ingenius placement to hold Trail's hills and roads in place, winter and summer.
The curious thing is that the author is living in Lynn's old house on Neilson Street, and Lynn got to take her own walk down memory lane when she went to visit Eileen. Such a small world!
I've started to read it and already, I am enchanted by the stories and details of the entriguing history of each wall ,when it was built and who built it. The history that has been brought to light is amazing. Thank-you to my two sweet angels in my life... Lynn and Joyce, for making my birthday extra special with the beautiful book and all of your sweet treats! Much appreciated!

I had to laugh as Mattie presented me with his own birthday card and what he called "The Bomb" He dropped a tube of construction paper from the upstairs so it would spill its contents all around me, down below, in the bedroom.Like confetti, various shapes and colours of paper fell out and each had a little Birthday message on it... 6-oh! Happy Birthday...I don't think he said "older than dirt" but there were a few sayings not too far removed... He is such a sweet little guy..and Abbi made sure she signed a cute card for me from her and her brother... It was delightful to have them over for the week-end. Now I can't wait for my own granddaughters to come, in a few weeks.!

Fun filled Week-end!

Lynn brought her sweet grand kids , Matthew and Abbi, out on Friday nght. First stop...the hot tub! The kids loved it and it was good for the arthritis and aches and pains too!

The hampster wheel before it departed

Sometime just before the hampster wheel was taken down the lake by the instant storm that popped up.
Yep, Just as I suggested that the kids ought to come in a little closer, Abs lost her grip on the hampster wheel and there it started to go...east with the gentle breeze that started up. I swam for it, but could get no closer than three feet to it...for every stroke, my little wave ripple just pushed it further out... Can you say bye-bye?
Sadly we watched it head out on its own adventure. Poor Abs was devastated, but I reminded her that it was far more important that she stay with her brother, like she did.
In the end, Randy and Faye jumped int he canoe and fetched it back, not without some trouble, but by the time we were back home, the storm was under way, and Randy drove up with the Hampster wheel in the back of his truck... Thank-you Randy!

oh-Oh...did someone call for rain?

Blimey, this Limey tastes good! The sun was shining out in front of us!

And then the rains came, so we migrated upstairs for a little painting... Boy oh boy...did it pour rain and a little hail... no worries about a dry lawn or anything.
We all had fun experimenting with watercolours
After a nice dinner, we all descended upon the garde to pick raspberries. The bushes were loaded and we picked three big bowls of them.
Later we had a dish of icecream with raspberries on top,and then we headed outdoors for our schmore roast!

Gotta do what ya gotta do when the campfire ban is on!

Lynn's marshmellow browned up nicely ( mine caught on fire!)

Abbi and her schmore....

A schmore is still pretty tasty ,even if it wasn't made on a campfire

"Hmmm. Today, I think I'll choose a floaty that won't blow away..."

So it was a jam packed weekend, but oh so nice to see Lynn's grandkids again. Sadly, they weren't here the same time that Kaleigh and Maddie were, but we still created some fun and I think they had a pretty good week-end! I certainly did! Thanmks Lynn for bringing them out and bringing all of your goodies! I feel like rolly polly tonight!
LAter this afternoon, Joyce and Lynn put on a surprise birthday party for me... I'll tell you all about it when Lynn sends me some photos! Thanks my dear sisters!
