Baby Bums!

Also called Apricots, these Italian cookies are fussy to make but spectacular to display and very yummy to eat ...and on Sunday, they will be on the desert tray!

They start out as little balls that you roll and bake. Next, you carve a tiny hole in the bottom of each cookie. Then the fussy part. One cookie is filled with Vanilla pudding, the other with chocolate pudding and then you stick the two together to form the apricot.

Once together, you make a little mixture of marachino cherry juice and a dab of red food colouring and a shot of whiskey . Then you dip the the apricots into
the juice and roll then in sugar for the finishing touch.

Yes, the one on the right looks a little poopy... just the chocolate pudding overrun.

Here they are ready to be frozen until the big PArty. Are you coming? Did you let me know?
I hope to see everyone on Sunday at 1:00...bring cash or credit card for some Xmas shopping with Pampered Chef and Partylite Candles.

Happy Late Birthday Joyce!

Lynn and Joyce and I gathered in Castlegar at Elements Grill for a light lunch and then yummy carrot cake ( Nadine's Recipe) that LYnn made, for desert.
We got to see some more of Lynn's fabulous trip photos... she was the ham of the Mazatlan party! We blabbed away while we ate and caught up on everyone's families and then it was cake time!

I'd be happy for that recipe sometime, Lynn, or Nadine. It was very delicious for sure! The food was excellent at the Element Grill, so well worth the venture to a new dining place!
We emerged to the rain pelting down , threatening snow, but of course it was warm enough that it just kept on raining. I stopped by to Joyce's to see her photos of her recent birthday trip to Kamloops. Well, those little grandkids are so sweet, and the baby , of course is the heart breaker with her big hazel eyes!

After a brief nap on the couch, Emil and I cleaned up and drove over to Pete and Elli's . It was her and Pete's 65th birthday, so they held a little neighbourhood party with most of the neighbours! Everyone chatted about Christmas coming so soon, and the news of the vacant lot next to us being sold...

Have a great Sunday! I am getting ready for my Pampered Chef Party..look out , it is going to be a blast...so come on over for it!

H1N1 Flu Clinics

You can go to this link and check the PDF guide to find out when a clinic will be happening in your area if you are in the Interior Helath Region. I see one on Friday in Nelson, but it looks like it is for the Pregnant women, infants, and health care providers, if I could read the fine print on the PDF guide. Check this site regularly if you have hopes of getting the flu shot for H1N1. My doc wouldn't give me the seasonal flu shot BEFORE the H1 N1 shot, unless I planned on not getting the H1 N1.
Seems like a little confusion around this area, but in the meantime, wash your hands often, keep the hands out of your mouth and nose, and wash down anything with an antibacterial ( Lysol brand) solution if a sick person has touched it, such as telephones, doorhandles , etc. The bacteria can live for 48 hours on anything.
LAst but least, if you come down with a sore throat and cough accompanied by a high fever, or any swelling at the joints, call the 811 health hotline to see if you should take further action. A dose of Tamiflu anti viral in the first 3 or 4 days of H1N1 flu, can considerably lessen the length and strength of the flu, and may prevent hospitalization.
So far, this must be prescribed by your doctor, but they certainly don't want to see you in their office, so call for a prescription.
Good Luck on your decision to get or forget the shot. I think the high risk group isn't my age group, so I am not too worried, as I was born before 1957,and don't have major health risks happening. If there is still some flu shot available at the end, I will consider getting it, as we will have plenty of customers over the Xmas season that could be carrying it. You are contagious for 7 days, so they say.If it looks too dicey and there are no shots available...Moi will be Masking up!

Recognize your friends?

Hag Lady having a bit of a problem with her hand

Beautiful Geisha Girl Correna

Massacre on the mortician's table

The whole garage was transformed into a Haunted house!

Thanks Correna and Joe for the excellent photos of your HAllowe'en bash. You are the HAllowe'en Goddess for sure, Correna! Looks like you went to a lot of trouble and had some great fun haunting the house. C. said she had these strobe lights that strobed to the sound of bubbling cauldrons and squeeking door hinges... oooooooh...sounds very spooky!
Love your sense of humour and if anyone finds black crows on sale for a good price, let C. know as she is already working on next year!

Emil's big Prize!

Look at this beauty from the depths of Kootenay Lake... 12 and a half pounds of solid fish!

The day was so beautiful that Emil decided to go for a few hours of fishing this afternoon. He only just got his line let out when "Bingo", Barney was singing along on his line and doing high dives out of the water. poor Emil never even had his fish net brought out of the back of the boat! With everything amuck, the fish miraculously held on and be darned if Emil didn't get it all reeled in! Good Boy Emil!
Unfortunately, his downrigger cable got all wound up in his little motor and snapped the cable... He stopped at Gord's place and Gord helped him sort out that problem.

Happy Hallowe'en Birthday to Joyce!

Wishing Joyce a big HAppy Birthday as she celebrates with her family in Kamloops today.. I bet they will have her own Pumpkin cake too! Have fun with those grandkids ,especially that wee cutey baby!

Meanwhile it is kind of a grey HAllowe'en day here, but good enough to get geared up for a good party over at the BBI, our usual haunt. This year we are doing the dead bridal theme...or old bride theme...so it should be quite a bit of fun. We will have pics to show tomorrow!

Kaleigh and Val going to the school dance as bunches of grapes. (Hope you had a popping good time! Sonia went to work as a cheerleader... we are waiting for those pics after tonight when several of them don the cheerleader costumes as MLC... that would be Mid Life Crisis!!

I missed the shot of two flickers out there having a beak to beak with each other, but here is the winner of the squabble

Have a happy Hallowe'en everyone! Drive carefully and soberly as I heard the forces will be out and about tonight!
