Everybody PArty!

The week-end started on Friday afternoon at the HEU office in NElson where an open house was held to honour Emil, Jean , and Janice, who are all retiring in the very near future. Friday was in fact, JAnice's last work day. Good friends and coworkers came and went all afternoon to say hello and bid goodbye. The three have over a hundred years of combined service for HEU. They will be missed by members of both the East and West Kootenays, that is for sure..not to mention the IHA people whom they deal with on a day to day basis to settle issues and come to agreements with.

Janice in front, listening to Emil's farewell..

Jean, Emil and Janice ...top honours and over a Hundred years of combined service

Emil's boss, Bonnie , who made a spot in her busy schedule to fly in .

Daryl, Jean, Eleanor, Bonnie and a bit of Tracey...enjoying the BBQ'd Steak... Don't fret if you don't see the rest of the food...It was on the counter and outside on the table..

Emil ,having a pensive moment

Dog-gone good Party...Rascal and Silky
The party migrated out to our house on Friday night, before everyone got too inebriated to drive!

Bonnie having some fun after a long trip from Victoria

Emil's secretary Deb, in the black chair...Jean and Daryl, off to the left

Three amigos..Wayne and Darren and Gord...

The party got going Friday night, but got going better by Saturday night when the rest of the guests arrived. More pics on the slide show to the right on my sidebar.
Lets just say that everyone had a lot of fun, eating, drinking and dancing and playing Texas hold-um...not to mention a few dips in the hot-tub. It was a great week-end, all in all, and a special big thanks to all of those who travelled so far to be with Emil and Janice and Jean on their big day of HEU Celebration.
Don't feel bad if you missed it. We'll do it all over again next summer on the July long week-end or on Emil's birthday when we can whoop it up in the summer. Looking forward to seeing everyone here in 08!

Party at my House!

Looks like there are going to be several before the year is out, but the one I want to invite all of my local (or distant) friends and relatives to is coming up real quick: Jot this down on your calendar and plan to attend! It is going to be "chock- a- block" full of wine and fun and more fun and more wine and lots of yummy goodies to eat...

Sunday, November 25th 1:00 pm
at my house
Everyone is welcome for some festive fun!

My Partylite Consultant and dear friend, Leah, will be giving a Partylite Candle Demo with all of the latest sniffs and smells of the 2007 Xmas season that are available, along with the newest candle holders to grace your home or give as gifts. Stocking up at this time will assure that you have the product before Christmas for yourself or as gifts. As well there are still many pieces available to complete the "look" you started on last season! Also, there are some beautiful hostess gifts if you'd like to squeeze in a party for yourself before or after Christmas.

As a bonus, on my recent trip to Victoria, at a fundraiser for Sonia's choir, I was able to also get the latest catalogues and order forms for Pampered Chef products and also for Epicurian Spices!

WhahoooooooO!!!!

Think of Christmas and think one stop shopping for your entertaining and gift giving needs. I will have some of each of those products here for you to sample or take a look at, before you order ....as well as some yummy examples to taste!

Also, I will have available, my 2nd Nature Products at their AMERICAN listed prices!

So as you can see, it will be an afternoon packed with all the fun of a good old fashioned hen party, and you can start and finish your Christmas shopping in one location! Hope to see you all there... Give me a call or email me if you need directions or want to RSVP me. I'll try to give all my regulars a call over the next week!... Love ya Ladies!!! See you at the Pahrty!

Welcome to Homemakers.com : HomePage : Free, printable Christmas gift tags
Here are some cute printable Christmas tags...Like we are there yet?

Some of the many photos from Victoria when Joyce and I went down to see the girls.

A project for the girls to do for Christmas...

Pretty Maddie ,who performed in the choir at her Rememberance Day ceremonies at her school. Kaleigh Went to the city ceremonies with the Pathfinders.

Our walk along the Gorge...

Mom and daughter with their new "Doos"

A quick visit to Victoria Harbour to show Joyce some of the sites. That is the Empress hoterl in the background.

Sorry I haven't been acing the blog lately... I had a lovely trip to Victoria with my sister Joyce over the Rememberance Day week-end...I'm sorry, I know, I should of called you Eileen, but it seems like the week-end went by way too crazy fast. Every time I thought about calling anyone, it was when we were in the car heading to somewhere else. Three days just aren't enough for that long of a trip, which was made even longer by the fact that the 7:00 am ferry never left due to the huge wind storm on Monday, and Joyce and I spent the whole morning hanging out at the ferry Terminal...Dismal is all I can say.

The ferry finally left the dock at 1:00pm. That put us at Costco at 4:30 where we did a whirlwind trip through the store and we were on our way by 5:30. What a heck of a time to be heading across the province. I won't go into the dreadful trip details, save to say that I made it home at 2:30 am. Don't try it on your own! I could have never done it by myself! Thank goodness Joyce helped me with the driving. At that, I am still tired!

Its a good thing I had so much fun with my grandaughters and my daughters and my sister while we were there... and to boot we even made it up to Mill Bay to catch lunch with Dick and Nadine and Georgia and to see their new baby...such a cute little baby man! Nonie joined us at Timmy's,s o it was good to see everyone at once.I had to keep thinking about how wonderful our visit was, to get me through the snowy roads on the way home. ( The Bluegrass music helped when we were peetering out!) Oh yes, thanks to Sirius Satellite radio for keeping the tunes coming whe we were in the boondocks. The storm hit everywhere by the looks of it with trees down, along our route home. Some poor people were still without power tonight.

I can't believe how much my granddaughters have grown. Kaleigh is taller than me now, and MAddie is all legs! Sonia is looking like a supermodel and Annette is the fashionista with some great new pumps, and a couple of Fabulous coats she ordered on-line from the USof A.

I spent half of Friday at the Hairdressers getting a dippety new doo for the Xmas season... then Sonia went in the afternoon... She came back without a trace of blonde, and looked like a million bucks!

Joyce built pie pastry and I used the apple peeler to peel dozens of Gala apples I brought from Keromeos. We then made pies and Joyce made tarts and all in by the time Saturday arrived, we had the best ever stuffed and roasted chicken dinner with all the trimmings that I missed out on, at Thanksgiving...topped off by the apple pie with a dollop of ice-cream. Yum. Sonia's friend, Michelle and her two girls joined us for that yum-yum dinner,as well.

British Columbia - Southern Interior Regions

Weather stations are marked by a yellow triangle... this apparently will give you the current weather at these locations... so for the Paulson, this am, it says the weather data has expired..although we still seem to be getting sunshine in our area! ( I looked out the window).

Celebration with Stan...

Emil, Janice and Stan! Cheers! Stan came up to personally celebrate Janice and Emil's upcoming retirement. Stan won't be here for the HEU party in a few weeks, so he came up early. We did a a dinner out at the BBI and then returned home for a little more cheer. ( I did the driving...and we left one car back at the BBI)

Later we hit the hot-tub for a good chin wag and a soak ....

This morning it was off for a little fishing trip on Kootenay Lake.
It was cloudy and drizzly at times, but all in all, not so cold, plus the boat
has a heater...I should say had while we had power! We were nearly down to Rhino Point, when the motor revved up and it was clear we had stopped moving. Upon inspection by the Captain and his First Mate, it was declared that the motor would no longer take us anywhere. I guess that is why a boat should always have a kicker... Luckily, we have a brand new one! Emil hooked it up and we were back under way again...but heading home now. We were nearing Queen's Bay when Stan't line let out the big ZZZINNNNNGGGGG! WOW! We were all screaming with excitement as the action started. Emil reeled in his line, I got the net out and Stan kept his line taught and the rod up, as he played Mr. Fish!
Soon we could see it flipping out of the water and then it was next to the boat and we could see that it was a biggy! Emil secured the net under Mr. Fish and it was Caught!
The size was good...some 30.5 inches long and weighing it at 12 pounds... So a 12 pound Rainbow Trout on Kootenay Lake, on November 3, 2007! Yippee! By then it was raining and time to return to home with our prize. Nice catch Stan...Surely made his trip up here all the more worthwhile.
We enjoyed a nice roast lamb dinner...thanks Joyce for the cooking instructions...next time we'll have to get the carving details from Morgan! Now, like fat little pups, everyone has headed to bed! And, I think that is where I might go , myself.

Telephone Scams Beware...

  1. In case you weren't listening to KBS this morning, there is a new scam where your phone rings and someone says to push #1 if you want to lower your interest rates, and push #3 if you don't want to hear from us again.....
JUST HANG UP! DON"T PUSH ANY BUTTONS! That can give the caller permission to make long distant calls from your telephone number..

2. Also, EMil got called with the old "You've won a 4 day trip to Orlando Florida" They were taping the conversation so they could play it back to Visa when you tell them your Visa number over the phone ...ACHHHHH! No Visa numbers over the phone...ever!

Don't believe a word of it... Annette's friend added up the costs to her...about $2000.00 and that was before she actually accepted the trip. Often the accomodation isn't available, so they put you in a more expensive hotel and you get to pay the costs.

3. If anyone calls to donate to the Police fund so that you can send a child to a circus...chances are very good, that no child will ever go to any circus

4. Lastly, before you donate, do a google search on the name whom you are donating to and check the comments.. ALthough a lot of names sound familiar, they may be copy cat names that are scamming you.

In any event becautious and as they say...if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

And the latest one I received by mail was to buy Lottery tickets in the German Lottery... I don't think so... Be Afraid... Be very Afraid... then be smart!

Da Moon...

If you are a night owl like moi, then take a pair of binoculars outside and look at the moon.. It is a beautiful piece of cheese tonight...
Take a look to the right of the bottom corner and you will see a yellowish blob of a star. This could be the new comet that has erupted 17P Holmes. It is in the constellation Perseus, but I couldn't show you Perseus any better than the Man in the Moon. The key point, is that the comet is growing larger, and may be devolping a tail, but not a visible one yet, and the colour of it is a yellow green, and it is as bright as any star in the Big Dipper and is now superseding the brightness of Jupitor...all in one night...so keep your eye on the night sky. See Spaceweather.com for some real photos of the comet, and a star map.
... You'd have todouble-click my photo to see the surrounding stars, which look like tiny pin pricks . Maybe I'll get out thee tri-pod ,one of these nights...

Happy Birthday Joyce!

Lots of candles to snuff out!

Beautiful Carrot cake that Lynn made and brought

Make a Wish!

Lynn, gorgeous as always!

On Sunday, the three of us met to celebrate Joyce's Hallowe'en birthday at Joey's Only in Castlegar. You'd think we hadn't seen each other for a year! We Love to have these little birthday get-togethers to blab about the news of the day, share grandchildren stories and pics, and to gobble up a bunch of good food and to squeeze months of visiting into a couple of hours ! Lynn brought the lovely carrot cake that she made and decorated and we indulged in..in fact, I just finished the chunk she sent home with me...Yummy, and thank-you Lynn. The news of the day is to wait for photos of Correna's big party..Send along some pics,so we can see how it all turned out... Hope you aren't still finding left over ghouls in the closet!
On an other note, a gal on the rasio is writing stories about the ghosts of Rossland. Sounds like the city was chock full of them, and in her quest to unearth the stories, she had a few ghostly encounters herself, in the old buildings of Rossland. She related a few stories on the radio this morning that would make the hair on the back of your neck stand on end. Okay, you Rosslandites...know of any ghostly happenings?
I always remember the ghost story of our Grandma Brewer... about noises in the pantry at night. One night they sprinkled the floor with flour to see what noisy thing was visiting.
In the morning, they were shocked to see the tiny foot-prints of a baby!
The End.
