Oh-oh

Looks like Silky wanted to play dress-ups!
Too funny...She was walking down the hall like an alien was attached to her bum...turns out it was only my bra, but it looked pretty hilarious anyhow.
Speaking of Silky, Silken Lauman ,our own Olympic Rowing champ was in our store today...and yes, I did name Silky after her ( Her official name, that is,...Silken!)
Silken is promoting Child's play..unorganized play, such as playing in parks, with the supervision of parents, or free play in school gymnasiums all across BC on Friday nights, when schools leave the gym open. She said that in Burnaby, she has a gym where there are parents and kids coming that speak a total of 83 different languages!!! How remarkable is that? She says that child obesity is the highest it has ever been in British Columbia ! She intends to keep on inspiring parents to get their kids back outside... to play in the parks. If each parent takes one night a week, to oversee the kids play, then kids could make use of PArks again. In the meantime, her initiative to open the gyms up to kids and parents on Friday nights is proving successful in the 11 or so schools where it has begun, in the Lower Mainland. On her tour up to Nelson, she has several speaking engagements motivate parents and kids to find new(old) ways to incorporate exercise into the kid's lifestyles....without having organized, costly sports activities, that many kids are not able to afford. Way to go Silken! So ,for all of you parents out there, with all that spare time on your hands...get the kid down to the school gym and let the kids run amuck!
