Dinner out with the girls

Well, I would certainly recommend The Cuisine of India restaurant in Castlegar
if anyone is looking for some tasty Indian cuisine. The dishes were plentiful and by the end of the evening, nearly everyone took a doggy bag home! On Sunday, a few of us grad girls and a great turnout out of cousins and sister-in-laws, made for a pleasant gathering of nine of us. The food was served almost immediately after the beer, so not much time for chitter chatter. It was full concentration on how to eat what first. Joyce and I split a combo for two dinner and there was enough for three for sure... Our order included a curried lamb dish, Korma vegetables, rice Tandori chicken and Naan bread... all very yummy and ,leaving absolutely no room for the mango custard that I had my eye on for desert!

Judy is looking over her appetizer platter

Leona has enough rice for two days dinner there!

I loved the cute little copper pots that the main dishes arrived in

More rice in front of Lori

Lynn and Lori

Ginny, moi, Lynn, Joyce and Leona
Yes, I look like a tuna there...but how to lose weight when all the food is so good?

Christine, then Judy, then me and Joyce and Leona in the orange on the left at the end of the table. On the right, we have Ginny, Lori, Lynn, and Karen

I picked up Joyce before we left and had to catch a few photos of her new littel runt...Amigo...Now isn't he the cutest?
It was a nice evening all in all to catch up with everyone's news and to see Karen again, who came from Nanaimo. We were reuntied with her and her sister Christine, at the grad reunion.
Sometime in the spring we will try another get together for dinner. In the meantime, I am planning a girly get together on November 15th for my annual hen party where we can order PArtylite candles, Pampered chef and maybe even some Epicurian spices. You are all invited! Lynn was asking for tupper ware, so if anyone knows of a dealer out in the Nelson area, let me know! We can have it at the hall and make an event of it!! Just joking... I don't have the energy.
In fact after all of our hard labour planting the tree yesterday, some little burrowing animal did an excavation down under the tree and up the other side. and out again... Perhaps a mole...grrrrr. I will try to find my trap and set it tomorrow. I was too busy finishing off my canner of borsht tonight,( I did the first part of it this am before work), then I did my beans and froze two bags. They were getting a little on the old side, so I chucked a few out and just did the best ones. Then to add to my on honey do list, I had already fried up onions and garlic and chopped swiss chard on Saturday night, so tonight I mixed in ricotta cheese and stuffed manicotti tubes and made the sauce to go over and baked them. They smell good, but what will they taste like? I never had mozzerella cheese, but added a few other kinds. It should be reasonably tasty. The rest of the ricota mixture went to the freezer, as did two bags of borsht. I canned six jars of borscht and even processed them. I hope they will last in the basement fridge now.
Ok good night everyone. It is quarter to twelve and I am pooped!

Dog-Gone Crazy!

Had to add Lynn's pup, Co-co when he was a pup... cute eh?

Marley, the newest addition to Eva and Dave and Mackenzie and Josh
Mostly , I think it is Mackenzie's new puppy...Isn't she cute?

Will Marley grow as big as Margo's Labradoodle, Max? They kind of look alike, don't they? Not really, but they are the same colour!

I should have had a pic of Lynn's dog , Co-Co, as well, but I don't have a recent one...If you send me one Lynn, I will add him...in the sandy brown section...

Introducing......

The newest additon to our family is AMIGO! ta ta ta atadaaaaaa! Buen Perro! This little rascal made the journey all the way from Mexico, so he is a tough little critter. He'll have to be a good watchdog to stay on Joyce and Morgan's farm! Sounds like he is a big hit with both of them already! Thanks to Leanne for finding a home for him!

Here is Silky at Club Randy and France's doggy retreat, when we went golfing. Silk looks like she has had a hard day! This is only one of several pics they took, just to prove she had a great time...I believe them! Looks like she was spoiled rotten...and they introduced her to baby cookies...hmmmmm!

Last but not least is Spike... He lives up to his big name by being a big mushy little pooch with a big voice... Gruuuuugh! Grrrrrr rufffffffff! Sonia is the main keeper , but I understand he makes himself at home with Annette and Lawrence, Maddie and Kaleigh and whomever has a warm body for him to curl up with.

Transport Canada

Transport Canada
Click on this link to get your boater's Operators Card now. It will be mandatory in a few days for all operators of speed boats of any size. The cost is between 25 and 35 bucks if you search around, and it can be done online. Read the material, pay your money, then with the help of a buddy to administer the exam of 36 questions that you answer, you submit the exam and in moments, you have a temporary licence. A laminated one will be mailed out soon after. You only need to do this once as it is a lifetime licence.
FYI: All five exams submitted in our neighbourhood had the same questions. Unfortunately, with five sets of brains, no one aced the exam!
Here is the other website that might be less expensive! Freecourse.ca

Durango Marigolds and Faye and Randy

The marigolds have taken off and are nearly two feet tall now with blossoms filling up most of my flower garden and obliterating the garden path. They look cheery and sunny and took nothing to grow. They are the Durango seed from Stokes. I see if saved seed makes them as big and beautiful. The amazing thing is that one plant can have yellow, orange and blossoms with red all on one plant. how do they do that?

Well, I believed that gfreen grassy stuff to be my daylilies, but it looks exactly like clumping grass. The thing is that the roots look like perrenial type of roots... but so far no flowers ...me thinks it is grass, but it is staying it neat clumps. I'll give it one more year and see what happens. If it fills the entire graden , then I guess I made a serious mistake. If it has neat little yellow daylillies, then I'll say hurrah! I dug them from the location where the short day lillies used to grow.

Roses are back in bloom and so are the amaranthus that Lynn planted for me. Aren't they incredible?

Faye and Randy came over for HAppy hour and appies today, then we ended up playing dice till everyone was bushed. It was a fun evening as Faye sure loves to laugh and joke around. The gals beat the guys 4 games to 2!

The "K" girls..

First Day of school for Mackenzie...look at how cute and grown up she looks.

Look at all of thoe sunflowers...amazing! This must be at the Corn maze place that Eva took Kendra and Kenzie

Look at her go.. a budding roper ,no doubt...just like her grandpa!

What do you get from a maze of corn? Lots of corn kernals by the looks of it.
eva took the kids to the Corn maze for a day of fun.

Kendra practicing to be a great bronco bustin' cowgirl... and I heard that her roping skills were pretty good too! Morgan will be proud that she is practicing!

Oh my... the entrance to the maze...looks huge to me!
I'd say the girls had a fun day! Thanks Eva for sharing these with me. The girls are getting so grown up and get cuter by the day!

I can't wait for the papayas to start growing!

Looks like Chenile eh? Lynn started these Love's Lie Bleeding or Amaranthus for me, and now they are four feet tall.. Thanks Lynn... they provide a beautiful display!
