Saturday and my Maiden Voyage...

Here's Emil' boat ,moored down at Peter's. Note the little stretch of H2O to wade through...before the pier! ( Note to ones-self...the water is colder than a tray of icecubes in an igloo freezer!) Avoid falling in...

Emil undoing the covers

Backing out is hard work!

Note that all the floor coverings are now snapped into place. Emil took me for my first spin in the new rig...out to Queen's Bay where we doodled along past all of the lakeshore cabins and homes. To me, the boat ran well, and the captain was incredibley happy to be a Cappy!!

The three amigoes. Wayne ( middle) arrived late this safternoon, followed by John( to the right) an hour later. Take about worse than hens! We've heard a few dandies tho..enough to keep us all laughing! Thank goodness for his buddies arriving when Emil needed it the most!

Supreme Court Ruling,favours HEU

So much to say...so little time...
So the first great news is that the Supreme Court of Canada ruled in favour of the unions! Yea! This means that now, according to the new law, any language that is agreed to through Collective Bargaining , comes under the Charter of Human rights, and can not be revoked by any government. What that means, is that Bill 29, that was rushed though, by Campbell's government in 2002 and appealed by the HEU and other Unions, has essentially been thrown out the window. In 2002, a binding contract that had been agreed to that protected jobs was essentially erased when Campbell's government went into those contracts, and eradicated those agreements. By contracting out services, such as laundry, it caused thousands of health care workers to lose their jobs on account of the government's power. Now the government has been given One year to fix all the damage they did. We'll see how that all transpires, but for now,it is a huge win for the Union and also may mean that those who lost jobs and homes, will be compensated in some way.
Emil was elated to say the least, since it has been a long fight, and it was with great sadness that many single moms had their jobs slashed, and in many cases, it was Emil who had to deliver the bad news. Let us hope that justice will do the right thing. The decision was declared in the Supreme Court of Canada...6-1...and no appeals are possible... They are calling it New Law. Hurrah! A small victory for the peons. Thus, if your negotiate a contract, it will be binding , and no government, in the future can take it away... yippee cay Yea!

Lost and Found dog...Victoria/Esquimalt

This must be someone's baby...possibly from Westaskwin...found in Esquimalt by Kaleigh. Now, you can tell that it is someone's dear pet, because look how it smiles for the camera...too funny eh! Kaleigh saved it from death on Tillicum when it was heading towards the traffic... Odd looking pooch...maybe a cross between a Maltese and a Pomeranian? If you own it, leave me a comment with an email or phone number and we'll get backl to you in the am...

More Pics...

My Peonies, after the wild rain storm last night...(that kept me awake!)

Joyce looking over her new flowerbed....

Baby colt taking a nip out of Morgan's arm....

Mama Jack giving baby a nudge...

Now she is giving him a talking to...yep, I can't recall the baby colt's name!

Thanks to each and everyone of you for your emails today... I haven't been able to reply to everyone, but I appreciate that you wrote and sent pics and good advice and all.

I managed to get poor Silk all clipped and cleaned up,sans the bath, last night. Maybe she'll get a bath tomorrow night!

I payed Joyce a visit after work today and she had a nice dinner all cooked for me. She is doing so well, I was impressed! We even took a walk down to the field to see the new colt of Morgan's. It made me realize, that I haven't really visited out to Joyce and Morgan's for a long long time...

I'll load up some pics and call it a night!

Weekend News...

The three brothers

Beautiful headstone with a Pansy motif in each corner

We finally took Mom home to rest in Grandforks...drove her past the old homestead and told her how she did such a fine job of making the property look beautiful. Sad to say, the new owners have tried a few things...a green house and new trees and raised garden beds, but every part of the yard was a foot tall in grass and no signs of flowers or garden being planted..

The good thing is that we made thousands of wonderful memories there when Emil's mom was alive and healthy. Those are the sweet memories we have to hold onto. We congregated at the cemetary. John and ronda brought down the beautiful headstone and we brought the urn, and Lawrence and Lori brought Christopher, whom I hadn't seen in years. ..Yep, he is all growed up into a pleasant young man. Lawrence had recorded Jessica singing Now Comes the night... a peaceful song that brought tears to everyone's eyes when Lawrence played it . Lori brought beautiful pastel peach coloured roses ...one for each of us to put at the gravesite, and Ronda brought a beautiful bouquet of mixed flowers to add to the fragrant cream and purple lilacs that came from my garden. We all said our good-byes and each of us poured in a handful of blessed sand over the urn, and that was about it.

Ronda and John and Emil and I met at the golf course and we had a hot afternoon of golf... a perfectly pleasant way to end the day.

On the way home, we encountered a moose calf up on the Blueberry Paulson... all legs and it was a movin'!

So Kudos to Correna...She ran her first ten k. run and made it in an hour and 9 minutes!~ That s awesome C! to boot she hit the front page of the Edmonton Journal...

She is to the right and wearing yellow...number 7765..Way to go Correna!

To top it off, the race began at 8:00 in the am! That is a feat unto itself...just getting there...so she says! I'm impressed!

Those are the highlights of the week-end...I'll write more another day... Sorry for not blogging...jsut too much on the agenda this past week...
