Sunday in Nakusp

The day was perfect for a drive...Joyce did the driving...Thanks Joyce!

With some time to kill, we took a stroll down to the boat launch. The fog was hanging over the lake to give us a surreal vista.

Yep, that is the gangplank going down to the lake....I guess the poles at the bottom of the walk way is to stop you from sliding into the lake on frosty days!

Surprise...Barb and Derrick and their cute little family arrived at eleven from Kamloops. Nice timing! The kids needed to burn off a bit of energy before lunch. Nakusp has a beautiful long walkway above the lake, for that very purpose.

The walkway is at the top right of the photo, just below those houses. You can see how low the water is right now.

Little Jamie was playing shy for about two seconds!

Joyce and Derrick...good to see him again.

After our visits, overlooking Slocan LAke, but on our way home, south of Naksup.

Derrick and Moi...Joyce took the pic...thanks Joyce!
Yes, we decided it would be a great day to go up and visit Uncle Paul, as his health is failing. Derrick, too wanted to have a visit with him, so he and Barb and the kids drove down from Kamloops and met us for lunch and our visit. We had a good little visit with Auntie Mary...she is such a sweety..can hardly see with the use of only one eye and teetering along, trying to get us tea... it is hard to see both her and uncle in so fragile of a state. She is 88 and he 89... and they have been together for 70 years...Amazing!
Mildred and Phil had driven 30 hours to get up there, and young Gerry also drove extraordinary amounts of time to come up from Sacramento. Everyone loves Uncle Paul and wants to be there for Auntie,as well. Ken had been up, and Rob and ROn and Nika were on their way.
We finally did get into the hospital room to visit with Uncle and he was awake and cognizant, however you could see, he had been through a rough week. In any case, it was good that we got to visit with him and I hope he doesn't suffer in the days to come. He just wondered what all the fuss is about and why so many people are coming to visit him. Bless his soul!
