News from abroad....

going and picking up a couple of lambs turned into a bigger fiasco than Morgan and Joyce bargained for... Looks like some fun! Thanks Mo-gan!

Wow...did we look this terrifc at 40? Amazing vitamins or whatever it is that you are taking...Keep up the good work..!FabSisters!

Then there was the case of the giant wasp nest and the extended family living plan...all discovered just after the mole hill in the concrete basement...ask Joe about that dilly!

Life is good for a pup on the good ship Annie...and yes, she did wear her lifejacket when we were topside at the back of the boat. She likes it.

The two QT pies...K& K!

Here's what to do with those ripening pears...Follow the Brenda Streudal recipe and add pears for your fruit. Drizzle with a chocolate glaze!

Yes, it tasted delicious! Thanks Lynn for bringing over the pears! Yum!

Sunday, out in the boat. Emil fished, but they weren't biting our line that day. It was a gorgeous sunny day. I felt like a cat lying in the sunshine at the back of the boat with Silky curled up next to me... What a wonderful way to relax! We did our usual route out to the main lake and then tootled down towards Crawford Bay, and up into Crawford bay ( rather rocky for the most part.) Emil reeled in his line and then we set off to find a sandy beach to pull the boat up onto for our picnic. We were somewhat surprised to discover that each beach had three or four boats in it already! Also,we discovered that many of the beaches were small rocks instead of sand and the waters in front of the beach were also heavily populated with large rocks. ...hence no boats there!
In the end we brought our picnic back to JAnice and Gord's beach at Balfour, and interrupted them from work for a few minutes to soak up the sun. All in all, the day was a pleasant way to wind down a busy week or two.
Time for bed... Seems like this tooth is acting up again and giving me some kind of ache in the face...not to be confused with egg in the face!

The Beginning of the Stan Ali Cup and the Brian Miller Memorial

One of the first arrivals of the day...

Ali outside their Clampet-mobile..or should I say Retro-trailer...Cute eh?

And inside the Clamp/retro mobile!

Camp is all set up...now to discuss it all...

Even Lorraine showed up for a visit on Saturday... Ya should of golfed Lorraine!

Lovebirds, Stan and Ali, for whom the golf tournament was named for

I think we can safely say that from here on in, the StanALi cup may be known as the Brian Miller Memorial. The week-end started on Friday, when most week-ends do,except we started it off with the arrival of a few early-birds..Stan and ALi and Dar and Gerry and Woody and Diane and Ken and JAn. The idea was to get a few things done in advance of the big party.

Emil got the moose roast all cooked up and everyone pitched in to help him get it on the table. I had to stop in town for last minute produce, so I was late and of no help what-so-ever!

Friday night shot by with last minute things getting accomplished till way late. That was fine because nothing stopped Emil from getting up early to head out to Castlegar with Stan to pick up the Go Hut ( potty) and to get Annette from the airport.

Meanwhile, Sandra arrived and between Dar and her and Diane and myself , we started in on the chopping of veggies for salads and the peeling of onions for the perogies. It was a mini factory, exploding with bowls of veggies in every corner and then it mulitplied tenfold when Janice arrived with more fresh Creston Veggies...cucs and red and yellow peppers and all sorts of home canned delights!

The bowls filled and containers got labelled and by early afternoon, we had Sunday's dinner under controle. One small factor was the fact that we didn't really know how many people were coming. Meanwhile , the golfers,at least, were moving in with trailers and tents and tent trailers and filling up every corner of the yard with another abode. Call it Camp Shu-Shu or Clampetville, or as our neighbour said when he saw it"What the hell have they going there...a Carnival?!" Did I mention that after a little fun, the boys erected two tents!

The afternoon was splendid and warm and a perfect day to hit the beach. Annette Arrived in time to get her swimsuit on and head down to catch some rays. Bea was coaxed down to go for a tube ride. Emil had the boat whipping everyone around and finally it was time for the old me to climb up into the pilots seat of the tube ( centre one) with Annette on one side of me and Stan on the other side. We started off slow enough, but as Captain Emil Nemoy got the Annie wound up, he had us whipping along at high speeds... I yelled "Lean" and we all leaned over to the side the tube was heading and before you knew it,we were going 200 miles an hour over the wake in a whiplash that made our heads dizzy! This was fun...so-much fun! Well worth the experience!

That is how the day went...a little work and a lot of fun and so nice to have Annette home and all of our dear friends ,setting up camp and hanging out. Lets say-The pre-party got off to a good start!

Since it is half past my bedtime, I'll have to contnue tomorrow night. I have uploaded a new slideshow on my Facebook sight...much easier to upload pics there, so check it out.
