Busy Busy

My planters are coming along nicely..petunias, ivy geraniums and trailing lobelia

An orange lily that I thought was going to be the yellow one that Correna gave me...fooled me!

My garden jungle

How is this for a shot?

The honey bees were enjoying the poppies. Unfortuantely, I yanked out most of the poppies today before they burst their seed pods...From one corner of the garden, they have migrated clear across to the other side and seem to be spreading faster than I would like.

Partners/Captain and the Admiral

Look close and you'll see the ferry nearing the Harrop side.

Emil, Tibo,aand Carolyne...

Another orange lily

Perhaps this is the yellow one that Correna gave me... Beautiful eh?

End of pics and onto the Newscast...

Patricia asked me to switch Saturday with her ,so she could have it off, so I had Friday off for a change.

Nice.

I tidied up and then prepared my dinner for Chris and Carolyne ( my bosses) and their kidlets, Tibo and Mirabelle.

The day was a hot and humid one that turned a trite windy by the time they arrived. It looked like a storm, but it never materialized beyond wind and a few raindrops. That was fine, we ate inside and enjoyed BBQ'd salmon and Perogies, that Emil helped me make last Sunday. I made a light fruity salad with torn up Romaine on a platter, then a can of drained mandarin orange pieces, and a cup of fresh picked raspberries, topped by pecans that I had glazed in brown sugar and butter. Over top, I poured a raspberry vinagrette. Everyone seemd to love it,and the perogies, so that was good. The kids dug right into the perogies...yum. I had a few of the leftovers for dinner tonight...still good.

Emil roasted the veggies for me on the BBq and then the salmon. All was very good.

We were going to do a bonfire for the kids after dinner, but the wind was still up,and by the time we finished desert, it was nearly 9:30. Everyone packed it in for the night.

Then I worked Saturday am with Carolyne. She changed a ton of jewellery around after we got rid of our old long gold case, and rearranged the gold pieces into two tall glass cabinets that I washed inside and out to make them all very clean and sparkley. The gold looks lovely and we just need to refine the positions of the lights and all will be tickedy boo. Well, it would be tickedy boo if the planned air conditioning every happened..so far it was 85* most of Saturday...hot and sticky. I guess that will prepare me for Vegas in August!

What is with these wide spaces that have evolved???

I met Joyce after work and we toured Touchstone's Museum one more time to look at the old photos of the Columbia River. It was brought up from the States, along with paintings of over 100 life sized ,cut-out fish that hung from the ceiling. Everything from Steelhead, to trout...all the fish that inhabit the Columbia from start to finish. They were handpainted by Artists from Oregon, who made them very true to life!

After the museum, we settled into the Library at the Hume for a cold beer and some appies to satiate us. Yum, the calamari was perfect, as were the terryaki wings...Nice thing is that the food is hot when they bring it to you . We also had the artichoke dip, but we agreed they overdid the dip with a little too much currey spice. I prefer it without the currey at all, for that matter. In any case, it filled up our little tummies, and we thoroughly discussed our trip to Vegas...Thursday will be see the sites and a show, and Friday will be shopping and Saturday will be the trip to the Grand Canyon. I am trying to decide which tour company. I read a bad review about hte one I slected, but a a woman from Vegas was just on it and said it was awesome...so what to do?

Today , I attacked the laundry, first thing in the am, then had a yap with Sonia and Annette. Annette is in planting mode and has decorated under the back deck with hanging baskets and flowers... She will make it into her little oasis before long...way to go girl!

I finally made it down to my garden to tie up my tomatoe plants and weed out my poor looking beans. Maybe they will perk up, but I think they require more Miracle grow! They are totally yellow. Well, they are yellow beans, but hte plants look pretty wishy washy. Lynn is already picking beans, and tomatoe and zuccini... I picked a bucket of raspberries and had a bowlfull with my breakfast. They weren't too huge, but still tasty. Maybe I'll give them a shot of Miracle grow too! Miracle grow everything when in doubt!

Just when I was about done weeding , a bit of thunder started and then bolts of lightening were going straight down to the mountain above Sitcum creek, and sure as heck a couple of fires shot straight up, followed by smoke. The good thing was that there was a big rain cloud on the heels of the lightening and I think the rain extinguished the fires, as they seemed to be right out, by the time the storm passed.

After Emil and I had a liquid refreshment on the deck, and a bit of dinner, we decided to go for a little boat ride to try outr emil's new "kicker" motor. I must say it purrs like a little kitten. We did a slow stroll around the bay to break in the motor... Nice way to relax at the end of a busy day. I should say the nicest way to relax is to take a twenty inthe hot-tub...so we did that and now I am ready for beddy. Emil was there long ago.

So enjoy my garden pics. I am praying that the deer don't inhale my lillies. I removed the net today after freeing so many buds that were ingrown into the net.
Have a great week...and I am keeping one thing secret.
