WaterSkiing 101

Annette, coming in for a perfect landing

Sonia getting ready to try to get up on one ski...

Up, on 2 skis

Watch where you are going ,Emil!

Sonia, crosses the wake for her finale!

Emil gets the skis fitted right on Sonia's feet, then she moves down to the end of the dock to take off, out of the water. Her and Annette were like pros...up and skiing in no time at all! Today, Sonia tried to get up on one ski, and nearly made it, but maybe needs a little more practice!
Bea, on the other hand, needs a LOT more practice, or maybe I'll leave it to the younger crew to figure it all out. The Ski bar flew out of my hands and I went A over Teakettle and wound up drinking a bit of the lake...two times! Such fun we have!

Here's Sonia beaming along like she did it last week!

Correna and Joe came out and we had dinner and exchanged birthday gifts, cause she and I are on the same day...so lots of funny cards going around. It was nice to see them back again and have a real visit... Thanks, C+J!

Annette was riding shotgun here, manning the ropes when she wasn't up there skiing like another pro!

Yes, my days off are flying by, but we are managing some quality time at the beach and in the lake . Both girls have been up on the new water skis and out skiing every day except Wed. We did the obligatory trip to town, then came back in time to get dinner together for Correna and Joe. We had a lovely evening with the hens yapping on one deck, and the roosters on the other! Reminds me of the old days when the men went to the garage to have a little snort of whiskey! Speaking of whiskey...The rest of Joyce's family will be here for the big 65th birthday of Morgan...on, you guessed it...08/08/08! Now isn't that special? I am looking forward to seeing all the little ones who are growing like weeds!

Everyone was happy to be home, and what could be a better present than having both of my daughters here at once, for the second time in a month!
We had the pytahee for dinner last night and more for dinner today...along with beet rolls, made from the beet leaves from my garden... yummo! Everyone had a great night last night and a fab day today on the beach... more pics about beach day, tomorrow! Meanwhile, time for beddy byes, before I fall off my perch!

Making Pytahee

fillings from left to right...bacon and onion, potatoe and cheddar cheese, sourcrout, cottage cheese, and also a hamburger and potatoe filling, not in the picture. I prepared these the night before. Typically, Russian pytahee are filled with vegetarian fillings , included mashed kidney beans, mashed peas, shreddded and fried beets, squash, and always cottage cheese...
However, other people have developed other fillings and in the long run, the best filling is whatever your family eats... maybe I'll try some cajun or currey, next time!

The dough is a soft dough.. I put a dozen eggs in this one ... and it rises into a nice puffy pastry

Next you roll out little rounds of dough, and then fill them with the fillings and lastly, fold the dough over-top the filling so in looks like a little braided papoose. Now, the typical Russian cook, would assemble these to all be one size and all look exactly alike, but when one makes them only once or twice a year, it is good if they just get some filling in them and they are folded and baked.
I bake them on my baking stone from Pampered Chef.

Once baked, the filled pytahee are eaten warm, with melted butter and sour cream on top of them... YUmmmy! My daughters were ever so pleased... mummsie food!!!
